Permanent Hair Reduction, IPL Laser Technology (Intense Pulse Light) Treatments

PHOTOFACIALS for SKIN REJUVINATION

What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?

Intense Pulsed Light technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of photo-aging, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins, and other blemishes. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.

How is a photofacial (skin rejuvenation) performed?
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and dark glasses are worn to protect your eyes from the bright light. A cool gel is applied to the skin. The smooth crystal surface of the IPL hand wand is gently set in the gel right above your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required. Treatment is generally administered in a series of sessions to provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.

Why are multiple treatments needed?
Depending on the number of conditions you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of sessions may be recommended. You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities. By dividing a full program into several smaller treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk, and it preserves the wonderful “no down time” feature that people appreciate so much.

How do other treatments compare to Photofacials?
While there are lasers that treat telangiectasia and broken capillaries, and other lasers that treat benign brown pigments and resurface the skin, no technology provides the long-term improvement of complexion and texture of the IPL skin treatments using a photorejuvination program without the slightest interruption in your busy lifestyle.

Can other facial treatments be combined with photofacials?
Although some facial treatments are suggested on the same day as a photofacial, many treatments are used in combination to enhance the effective results of the photofacial. Microdermabrasion, for example, is the perfect treatment for many clients looking for quicker results.

PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION

Hair removal using IPL Laser technology can provide tremendous relief to women who want a long-term hair removal solution. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) offers a gentle, non-invasive, long-lasting solution to unwanted hair on the face and body. Based on technology used for nearly a decade, this treatment safely eliminates dozens of hairs with each pulse.

How do IPL Laser treatments remove hair?

Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the re-growth potential of the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.

What happens during a treatment?
Prior to your treatment, the area that you want removed will be shaved. You will be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. A cold gel application will be spread over the treatment area. A hand wand is then applied to your skin and pulses of light begin to disable the unwanted hair. The hair in the treated area will fall out over the next one to three weeks.

Before any treatment, an in-depth consultation is required to discuss and customize a treatment program that best fits you. You will be asked about your medical history and skin type in order to estimate the results you could expect from your treatment

What does the treatment feel like?
The sensation is similar to a small rubber band snap. Most people report less pain than a waxing treatment. No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment very well.

Can all hair be treated?
IPL’s unique design offers customized treatments according to hair color, texture, and location on the body. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red, and even blond) can be treated as long as the hair color is darker than the skin color.

Are there any possible side effects?
Side effects are rare. Some individuals may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On rare occasions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but resolves quickly. Also, it is possible for the skin to become darker or lighter following a treatment, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complication. Following the treatment, you can generally return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.

What kind of results should I expect?
IPL technology had been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of re-growing hairs following each treatment in most skin types. The number of sessions required depends on several factors related the individuals specific kind of hair and skin. A customized treatment program will be designed for each individual along with an estimate of how many treatments may be needed in order to meet expectations.
